I don't agree with the author when she says that politics are not cool, because I think it's a "cool" topic to talk about, because we really need to get our thoughts out there, we need to be heard. One person that screams cool to me is Michael Moore who really goes out of his way to make us know of controversial topics. What I would like to add is that we should look at how technology has changed the idea of cool. Now to be cool is to have all the new gadgets and if you don't you are not cool. For example the ipod and all the new cellphones and many other high tech toys out there. I'm just curious about ... Yet in the bottom of the ad it says " Have nothing to wear to work?" What I was thinking is to change the font in the bottom to say something like happy? of enough? Or make it funny somehow. The most common use of detournement is using advertising which everyone sees. So the objection is to change the meaning of an art piece and adding your message to it. Like he says this is a very easy task because you don’t have to think so much about creating a new design from scratch because it’s already there you just have to twist the words and make it as close as possible to the real thing. It's true a picture is worth a thousand words. What caught my attentions in this article is that advertising really focuses on what this perfect life could be with the product that they are selling, and like he says envy makes a big difference if people envy us for what we have, that makes us feel better. That will only give us happines for a moment, but not for life. We will never be completly satisfied with what we have and the search for having the perfect life. I sometimes noticed that adertising made some references to classical paintings, but I had no idea that it had been done for such a long time. Advertising has become so powerful that companies pay millions to make their products known, because it really works even if you think it has no effect. Advertising is everywhere so there is no way to really escape them unless u go to the middle of nowhere, however when I was on the road to Mexico out of nowhere and there was a big deoderent can from Axe and women climing on it. So if we can change these ads and other public displays to inform people of all the things that we choose to ignore. At first I didn't really like the idea of going up to strangers, because I was afraid of people being mean. The first person I asked told me that he didn't have time and walked away, so I didn't feel well about that. So I decided to ask a girl who was sitting down and I felt the need to explain the reason why I was going to ask a question. She was very nice and agreed. I asked her to describe me something when I say the color red. Her answer was Silky flowing ribbons. I can't remember what the second person responded, but I remember the third who was a man that was coming out of class and I asked him what was his favorite activity and why. His answer was dance, because it's who I am. I loved that answer out of the 3.
