I really enjoyed reading this article, because it's just amazing to me how much information advertising has in one picture. It's true a picture is worth a thousand words. What caught my attentions in this article is that advertising really focuses on what this perfect life could be with the product that they are selling, and like he says envy makes a big difference if people envy us for what we have, that makes us feel better. That will only give us happines for a moment, but not for life. We will never be completly satisfied with what we have and the search for having the perfect life.
I sometimes noticed that adertising made some references to classical paintings, but I had no idea that it had been done for such a long time. What I don't really agree with him is that during those times whene paintings of rich people in the victorian era were done others would feel no envy, I think envy has always been around and if I were there and had no money and had to see these big paintings of rich people dressed in their beautiful dresses and suits, I would be very envious and would want a painting of me too.
