FINALLY

I have always wanted to see how tetris would look like if the abstract letters were more than simple color shaped blocks. So i took this opportunity to explore the possiblity Tetris can take on and manipulate it somehow to make it more appealing for contemporary times i guess. Or maybe just for my own liking. Since i love drawing, i decided to find inspiration and a subject that interests me somewhere along the lines of reality and fantasy. I finally decided to explore the identity of the shapes and how they fit together. I thought of circus acrobats. So i did some research and looked up some fun images from google. It is definitely crazy what humans can do to their bodies. Very surreal. Usually my art work incorporates some kind of humor and concepts based on identity, such as race, gender, social or economical issues etc. What i usually do is i go through a drawing phase, where i just brainstorm and just draw nonstop any ideas i have in my mind even if they seem far off or too absurd or stupid. Then i start to kind of think about what exactly i want to say and do with what i have. At first i started to think i want to do Tetris characters as a family or as random people. But then i thought how would i fit these humans into these shapes. Acrobats. I came up with different characters and names. My project fell short because i ran out of time. I spent to much time on the concept that my intentions couldn't follow through. I wanted to show all these characters piles and fit into each other like in the game. I wanted to show them in color and to show when some of them touch they cause different reactions. Some characters when connected would have painful faces, funny faces, sexual connotations, color changes, etc. I found this project to be extremely fun and i definitely want to refine this concept and bring it to another level where it has a more thought out story line, characters, and involvement of my interests dealing with certain issues of identity.
