These are pretty cool... take a look if you guys havnt seen them yet...http://benfry.com/distellamap/...... they are the mathmatical and conditional statments for the old video games like pac man and q-bert... but presented as art peices.. i even printed a few up in large scale for my room..ahha.... but they are quite beautiful... and its neat to see the difference between game to game.. they almost look like dna... which they pretty much are... I think there is potential for alot of neat art peices from this era of gaming...one of the reasons is that the abstract imagery had alot of compositional potential and would be rad to install in interesting enviroments... like a bunch of pac man ghosts in the cemetary or somthing...lol... but also that alot of kids from my generation realate to these images on a more intamate level... which is rare nowa days in that we are bombarded with so much visual crap.. we are almost imune to everything... I think i might make some type of art peice this year....of clothing peice...m ( i didnt know how to post a picture but if i did, it would be of the gremlins box for atari...lol... that has some tshirt potential...)

Very nice. Thanks for blogging this. It's great to see abstract art made from these abstract games. You're right, it seems like these old games have more potential for stimulating interesting visual imagery. Although there also are some interesting artworks inspired by more recent games. http://www.tmpspace.com/carmack.html
