In Kaprow's essay about brushing his teeth as art he is attempting to show the similarities between art that exists in life and that art which we hang on walls of galleries. He asserts that any act in life, when examined and broken down, can be beautiful and intricate. Kaprow finds it hypocritical that people will take a museum space and try to "estheticize" it to a point where it is pleasing to the eye, he thinks that it is much more natural to find the already aesthetic scene in nature and bring the audience there.

A good succinct summary.
It is debatable whether Kaprow is illustrating the similarities or differences between art and life and art and galleries. In many ways they're very different.
