Babyz!

Ubisoft Unveils Imagineā„¢ Video Game Series For Girls

Game maker Ubisoft announced their new games aimed at young girls, one game in particular, Babyz is the first ever video game to simulate caring for a baby in the various stages of development, and this is the one that drives m;e the craziest. The other titles in the Imagine series are Fashion Designer, Animal Doctor, Master Chef, and Figure Skater. I realize that, all things considered, playing a video game about babies in some ways is akin to children playing with dolls, which I have no problem with at all. The other titles also involve pretend play wich is widly acknowledged as important for a child's development. Maybe this bothers me so much because the games are marked for ages 3 and older; I suspect that my being a subscriber to the Montessori education model furthers my proplems with this series of games since really, I don't believe children under the age of 7 should be exposed to viedo games.

And really, who decided that the letter "Z" could be used to pluralize a word? makes me ass twitch.

I finally got out of the train station...

but not before i got the shit beat out of me:

i found it incredibly disturbing the way that the screen on the game shakes and turns red, and sometimes shows bright flashes of light as if you're blacking out- which, having never been beaten, i assume is somewhat like being beaten up is like. weird stuff- at least I think it's kind of weird. Anyway, I did finally manage to get a crowbar and I believe that I got hit by a train. I did feel myself getting drawn into the gameplay as I was able to progres within the game, however, between watching bad television and knitting somewhat compulsively, I'm not sure that there is time for me to become a gamer.

That said, I have begun playing Katamari Demacy and Final Fantasy(I can't remember what number off the top of my head, will get back to you on that one) both for Playstation2, my boyfriend's little sister has allowed us to borrow her console while she is away at college. I wasn't really into the idea of playing a RPG, but the turn based battle system wherein i can input my commands appeals to me because frankly, the fighting bits in HalfLife2 kind of freaked me out. The game itself is slightly movie like and this also appeals to me.

show and tell

Over the holidays I went to visit some family and my one of little brothers was completely obsessed with this game called "Guitar Hero" which I guess looked kind of fun, but I guess to a 14 year old, it's mega fun, or something. So I was talking to him the other night and he mentioned that they were releasing a new iteration called "Rock Band" I did some googling and came up with a funny video featuring the developers and important folks at Harmonix of the game attempting to play it live at E3:
">

I especially enjoyed the accidental pausing of the game near the end. There's a good chance I'll be required to play this when I go visit this January since my brother will ubdoubtedly be recieving this for Christmas.
