Ubisoft Unveils Imagine⢠Video Game Series For Girls
Game maker Ubisoft announced their new games aimed at young girls, one game in particular, Babyz is the first ever video game to simulate caring for a baby in the various stages of development, and this is the one that drives m;e the craziest. The other titles in the Imagine series are Fashion Designer, Animal Doctor, Master Chef, and Figure Skater. I realize that, all things considered, playing a video game about babies in some ways is akin to children playing with dolls, which I have no problem with at all. The other titles also involve pretend play wich is widly acknowledged as important for a child's development. Maybe this bothers me so much because the games are marked for ages 3 and older; I suspect that my being a subscriber to the Montessori education model furthers my proplems with this series of games since really, I don't believe children under the age of 7 should be exposed to viedo games.
And really, who decided that the letter "Z" could be used to pluralize a word? makes me ass twitch.

You raise some good points. The games wouldn't be so bad if they were marketed to both girls and boys.
It's a case of the system perpetuating its own stereotypes.
