I believe that the meaning of Cool to the authors is not the slang term that is normally recognized. They believe that it is a term for individualism and a meaning of rebelliousness against anything that is possible in the world. For instance, people believe that peace, love, and charitable is cool but on the other end, other people think violence, crimes, and drugs are cool.

The term "Cool" defined in the chapter also describes that it affects the major group of young teens. Not only in their social life but the political and business aspects of it. The term cool brings out what should be consumed, what should be watched, and what should be recognized. Advertising is a key in this cool factor because it is a tool to help influence what should be cool out there.

One thing that I agree with is the point about glamor. Marilyn Monroe is seen as someone who is wealthy, beautiful, and how people are envious of her. Mrs. Siddons has the same values but she is not considered as Glamorous. This is because Marilyn Monroe has people who carry a widespread and common emotion.

I do not agree with the idea that if you buy more you are more lovable. That does not make any sense because the idea that money is life is true to some aspect but it does not mean to buy happiness. This is what I feel what they are trying to say. Money can buy happiness.

The first idea that I have for my PT is go into a building that has a large public restroom. (Theater, restaurant, etc) Take out all the available rolls of toilet paper and pile them up in a corner of the restroom, preferably farthest from the stalls. Place a Post-it where all the toilet papers used to be and on the post-it it will say "Show some sympathy to the tree you killed. Take Action."

Of course the person would eventually have to get up and grab the toilet paper, but it will give the person who experienced it a response of multiple emotions. Anger, frustration, confusion, then hopefully consideration and compromise. Maybe there will be a cause and effect or maybe there won't be. It will all depend who experiences this Poetic Terrorism.

The second idea I have for my PT is go into a public library where there are computers. Disable the cords to the mouse and the keyboards by cutting them and stick a note on the computer screen that says "Are you completely hopeless now?"

This will give a response in the beginning that the hardware is not working. What is the next step? Will people give up and not accomplish what they were planning to do? Or will they take some measures to find other avenues or figure out that there should be a back up plan. What I want to get across with this message is that, do people rely on so many things that make things more convenient? If so, how much do they rely on it. The general outcome of this should be that people should expect the unexpected more often.

Tell them your name, and you are in ART 410.
Watch their response.

I talked to about 6 different people.

40% had a happy but confused response and replied with a happy greeting.
60% were puzzled, smiled, then ignored me.
