Waco Resurrection, visceral gaming experience on psycho-social phenomena

wacowaco.jpg

I have been looking through Yerba Buena Center Game exhibition in 2003 and come across this game which called "Waco Resurrection". I was familiar with the event as I came to the United States at the first time as an exchange student at Robinson school in Waco during 1993 and I had seen the event from the distances. I am not actually remember the details of the event though, but I remember that it was pretty stressful situation for people who live around there with the sirens and holicopters flying around.

About the game:
"It is the first chapter of Endgames, a 3D multiplayer computer game series which incorporates elements of subjective documentary and speculative fiction with interactive technologies to create a visceral gaming experience focused on extreme psycho-social phenomena.
gamers enter the mind and form of a resurrected cult's leader David Koresh through headgear, a voice-activated, 3D skin. They are Koresh who must defend the Branch Davidian sect against intrigue, skeptical civilians, rival Koresh and government agents.
Players are bombarded with a soundstream of government “psy-ops”, FBI negotiators, the voice of God and the clamor of battle. Players voice messianic texts, wield weapons from the Mount Carmel cache and influence the behavior of both followers and opponents by radiating a charismatic aura."

David Koresh, who is he?

I think the game is pretty amazing how they come up with the interactive equipment such as head gear and a voice activated to present an extreme psyco state of mind of David Koresh. Waco is a primal scene of American fear, the apocalyptic visionary.
I am wondering who would want to enter the twist world of psyco's mind and learn what he had to go through. The stressful situation of a cult leader fight back the government, which I found a bit scary but funny that the player is assume the role of a resurrected cult leader instead of government.
Anyway since this game is an interactive with psycological state of mind to deal with the opposite side, I was wondering what would effect a person who had been playing the game? I wish I could play and tell.

I am 8 bit art exhibition

I think video games play an important part of some people life. Art is a one of the factor. Some artists use games as a express medium to represent their interest of video games. The art piece that connect the video games lead to people experience of playing in video games. It also tell artist perspective of each individual game, that he or she tried to represent. In this particular show, I have seen much of the work that relate to Mario since it was all time favourite game for many people and enjoyable for all ages. It is interesting to see different artist represent their favourite game in different medium and context.

A Force More Powerful

It is strategy game which as a player play the role of nonviolent movement. I think it similar to Sim city and Themepark, but more in depth of the aspect of social movement and political effect. The way you succeed in wining the game is base upon your tactics and how efficient you could manage resources.

Peace Maker

It is a video game to promote peace base on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Players control Security, Political, and Construction.
The matter of maximum wining the game is you score 100 trying to make peace or lose maximum of -100 when war break.

"PeaceMaker is a game about relations. Eight different actors are simulated and interact with the player based on conditional mood. Graphical thermometers present the level of anger and disapproval of each of the actors with the player’s policies at any given time. Unbalanced relations with different actors can lead to a losing state."

"Real-time and Location-Based Events. Videos and pictures from a library of real-time news events are interjected into gameplay. Relevant events are presented on a high-resolution map of Israel, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip."

midterm- tekken

I have provide research info include history of tekken and Namco in my earlier block.
The stage is base on the castle in Osaka, Japan. I use 3d program celled "vectorworks".

Himeji.jpg

As interior design major, most of my works is base on interior and not so much exterior I ever done so far. This is the first time I try to construct an exterior with complicate form. Since I came to CCA, my design base on minimal and clean approach. So in this project I want to try to construct 3d using traditional structure as a model.

tekken-midterm.jpg

The render is not properly well finish with vectorworks's render function. Fot the limit time I have, instead of using vectorworks to render all part, I use photoshop to map some part that wasn't render properly.

The problem I found is: If I want to render it to be more realistic, it would took me longer time to render and my com spec. probably need to be higher so it run faster.
